The Millbrae Racquet Club is a family -friendly, non-profit private tennis club founded in 1975, with five outdoorMore courts and a ball machine to practice solo.

One membership is good for the entire family, but children must be under 21. Each family member receives a key to the facilities. 

The clubhouse has a big-screen TV, a full kitchen, locker rooms with showers and an outdoor barbecue area.

The courts were resurfaced in July 2010 and the club hosts several tournaments a year. Call for lessons.

Nurture & Nature

Owners and teachers Erin Jermyn and Shannon McGee have been friends since attending kindergarten in Millbrae in 1980.More Nurture & Nature encourages children from 3 to 6 years old to take social, emotional and academic risks to gain self-confidence. Parents contribute to creating individual goals for students that are reviewed by teachers three times a year.

The pre-school offers part-day, full-day and extended-day schedules, from two to five days a week. It places children in one of two classrooms depending on their maturity level.

Lomita Park Elementary School

Lomita Park achieved higher standardized test scores (826 API) than most in San Mateo County. As of the 2007-2008More academic year, Lomita Park spent $5,589 per student, almost half the district and state average.  Teacher salaries averaged $51,929, below the county average.

The school is 49 percent Latino, and 35 percent Asian. About 67 percent of students speak another language at home, and 58 percent are economically disadvantaged. There are 15 teachers, and the average class size is about 20 for K-3, and about 30 for fourth and fifth grade. The school has a gifted child curriculum, a special education and an ESL program.

Millbrae Montessori

The Millbrae Montessori school has three programs, each developed to nurture children's developing skills.


Pre-School: Children aged three to four are taught how to share with others in the classroom. There are several field trips, such as going to Coyote Point, Zoomobile and the Fire and Police Departments.

Pre-Kindergarten: Teachers provide a more structured day for kids aged four to five. Teacher stress basic reading and writing, and children go on field trips including a pumpkin farm and the library.

Kindergarten: Children five to six years old learn math, science, geography, music and art and continue to build on writing and reading skills. Students have weekly assignments to complete both in school and at home.

In addition to standard classes, children can also enroll in ballet, yoga, Spanish, Mandarin, or chess.
