The charter schools in New Orleans after the wake of Hurricane Katrina have been a great success inRead More a state ranked near the bottom of education. Solutions start locally, not federally. When i went to Mills High, the STAR testing added no value and I believe still adds no value to the classroom. Cookie cutter tests and education isn't getting it done. I was disappointed when the school closed the ROP Auto Shop and other shop classes taught by Mr. Nichols. I may have ended up an accountant but I still benefitted from a well rounded hands on auto shop. I still to this day change my own oil, brakes, tires as well as replaced my water pump and radiator myself in yes, the same car I drove in high school my 1997 corolla with now 223k miles. Education is not all about your metrics, it's about preparing people for LIFE.
