Millbrae Community Rallies Around McGee Family

After two siblings were hit by a car on El Camino Real and sustained major injuries earlier this month, family friends have organized a system of support.

In the three weeks since a car crashed into siblings Kara McGee, 16, and Justin McGee, 11, on El Camino Real, the Millbrae community has rallied around the family.

"Everytime I see or hear from someone, the first thing they say is 'how can I help the McGee's,'" said a famly friend, Heidi Lindström-Gomez of Millbrae.

The two youths were rushed to San Francisco General Hospital with major injuries following the accident and have now been recovering at home with parents Thomas and Tammie McGee.

Lindström-Gomez and other Millbrae residents have organized a food drive to donate dinners to the McGee family during their recovery period. So far, participants have signed up to provide dinners well into October, and the drive is still open to participants. For more information, call Heidi Lindström-Gomez at 650-8984149  or Betsy Shader at 650-3020499.

As of this week, community members can now support the family financially by donating by wire or visiting Chase Bank. For the account info, contact Lindström-Gomez.
