Marina Vista Park Gets a Facelift

Volunteers dig, plant and hammer for Arbor Day.

In case you didn't notice, Marina Vista Park is lush and colorful.

Thanks to about 50 hard working volunteers who spent last Saturday toiling under the sun in the name of Arbor and Earth day.

City Mayor Paul Seto shoveled mulch. Mills High Volleyball Coach David Leung and some teens planted four plum trees. And 12 Saint Dunsten school kids raked and upgraded the playground. Millbrae parks and recreation staff helped with everything else in between.

The result? 20 plum trees border the park, a bed of flowers greet the entrance and the tables and benches have a fresh coat of paint.

They did a lot in three hours.

Sponsored by the City of Millbrae, various school, community and environmental groups came together including 30 Mills High Students and 20 Leos.

As a token of the city's appreciation, volunteers were treated to a hearty and healthy lunch meal and freshly planted vegetables and herbs to take home.

A dual thank you partnership that benefits everyone.
