Welcome Back Bulldog Dance Gets an "A"

First Taylor Middle School Dance Friday was Grade "A".

Where can you find a D.J., cotton candy and a 5-foot-tall BULLDOG ? , of course.  Last Friday night students filled the auditorium for the Welcome Back Bulldog Dance and had a great time.  This was my 6th grade daughter's first Taylor experience, and she gave me the scoop.

The music was the big attraction.  The D.J. and his helper got everybody involved by teaching dance moves and giving out prizes.  The music was loud, just the way the pre-teen crowd likes it. Students  were asked during the week what songs they wanted to hear most.  Comment if you know the D.J.'s name, so we can give him credit.  He was the life of the party.

Bubba, the Bulldog mascot, was in the crowd giving hugs and high-fives and showing off some dance moves too. I hope somebody got pictures for the yearbook. Who needs "Dancing with the Stars" when you can "Boogie with the Bulldog"?

Food choices were ( Ok parents, don't freak out)  pizza, soda and cotton candy.  It was supposed to be fun, right?  Water was available, which was good since it got pretty warm according to my source.  Decorations were "simple and cool". Ask your Taylor student what they thought, and add a comment.

The timing was just right, from 6-8pm.  Great for those who had to get up and play soccer the next morning.  Before the dance there was  a pot-luck get-together  for parents , PTA leaders and the new Principal, Dr. Lesley Martin to mingle. Nice for the adults to have a little social time too.

One mama comment:  tickets were $6 in advance, $7 at the door.  That's a little pricey for kids who don't have jobs yet.  Local business donations of food or entertainment cost could cut the price.  I'd like to know that every student can afford to attend.  Think about it for next time, leadership team.

So, when I asked what grade she gave the dance, she smiled and said it was an "A" . Pretty high mark for the first party of the year.  Thank you  teachers, leadership students, Dr. Martin, Dr. Toy and staff at Taylor for working so hard. It was a wonderful celebration.
