Students Celebrate Sacraments at Saint Dunstan

Confirmation and First Holy Communion ceremonies will be held at Saint Dunstan Catholic church this week.

Bishop Robert W. McElroy will be the celebrant for the Sacrament of Confirmation at 5pm Thursday, May 12th at Saint Dunstan Catholic church in Millbrae. A group of more than fifty 8th grade students from St. Dunstan school and Taylor Middle school will be Confirmed. Gifts of the Holy Spirit - Wisdom, Understanding, Right Judgment, Courage, Knowledge, Reverence , Wonder and Awe - are their reward.  These dedicated students have completed a two year course in religious education and performed community service to help others less fortunate in our community.

On Saturday, May 14 at 10am , the First Holy Communion celebration will be held at Saint Dunstan church.  This group of 2nd grade students from St. Dunstan school and Millbrae elementary schools will renew their baptismal promises and receive the Eucharist for the first time.  They have prepared songs and special readings to celebrate this joyful occasion with their families.  These young Catholics have also completed a two year class in religious education in preparation for their big day.

In these uncertain economic times,  it is comforting to know that traditions like First Holy Communion and Confirmation are still a priority for Millbrae families.  As children grow, it is important to honor their hard work and dedication with special ceremonies like these.  Their catechism teachers, religious education director, Sheree Leone and St. Dunstan school principal, Dr. Bruce Colville, along with their families,  should be very proud of these kids.
