Millbrae Youth Soccer Season Ends with Championship

Millbrae AYSO teams compete for Millbrae Cup Championships.

Millbrae AYSO soccer season ended on Nov. 20 with the final "Millbrae Cup" championship games. Cold and rainy weather didn't dampen the enthusiasm of the players. Coaches and referees ran alongside players in the rain, soggy parents under umbrellas dotted the sidelines.

Thanks to Debbie at the Snack Shack, and her parent volunteers, for having those nachos, hot dogs and hot cocoa to keep us warm. It is a great service to the families as we watch the games, and a nice treat for the players too.

Kids in striped soccer uniforms crowded into local restaurants, like Zorba's Pizza, for team parties to celebrate the end of the season. Kids who have been together since August will now move on to other sports, like basketball. Some will play for their high school soccer teams or indoor soccer leagues this winter.

Parents, coaches and volunteers celebrated with a dinner dance on Saturday night.  The coaches played eachother in their own game late Sunday afternoon. I didn't stay at the field for that one, but I am sure they had fun. Would like someone who was there to comment on the dance and the coaches cup game.

Medals and trophies were awarded by coaches. Those teams winning the Millbrae Cup championships brought home gold cup trophies to display (see the photos). Win or lose, everyone had a great season. Thank you Millbrae AYSO.
