4th Annual Green Hills PTA Picnic a Sunny Success

Green Hills PTA 4th annual family picnic on Saturday was a nice break on a busy weekend.

Green Hills Elementary School PTA hosted a family picnic for school families , teachers and community on Saturday.  Warm sunshine brought a good crowd. Like many families, I was squeezing in an appearance between my kid's soccer games. It was good to see so many new and familiar faces enjoying good food and company.

Lunch included hamburgers and hot dogs from the grill,  baked goods (awesome zuchinni bread!)  and cold drinks.  Families shared picnic tables and mingled while the kids played on the playground . Lively music made it fun to dance in the grassy field.  Children decorated pumpkins for a contest. Winners from each grade will be announced on Monday at school.

Principal Sandra Phillips was there to share a smile with all the kids and their families.  She sent this message Saturday evening  "A very special thanks goes to our wonderful PTA for coordinating and delivering this fun event. Thanks very much to every volunteer who helped, every family, and teacher who showed up as well!" I agree. Green Hills PTA President Christina Spicker and her team of volunteers made this picnic a relaxed and colorful  (and FREE) event all ages could enjoy.

Principal Phillips also reminds us MEF Donation Days are coming next week October 17-19. Donate Once and It Counts Twice! Our Millbrae Education Foundation helps fund important district‐wide programs. Volunteers will be collecting money at our schools on these days or you can make your donation on line at  www.MillbraeEducationFoundation.org  Making a contribution to MEF is the best way to keep our schools in Millbrae going strong.

Our local schools and the community they create makes being in Millbrae so special.  I am thankful for an old fashioned get together like this to remind me why I am raising my children here.  Thanks Green Hills!
