School Board Meeting Preview: $30 Million Bond Measure

The Board of Trustees on Monday will vote on placing a bond measure on the November ballot.

The Millbrae School District Board of Trustees will vote on Monday whether to place a $30 million bond measure on the November ballot.

The money would fund a new cafeteria at Taylor Middle School, new roofs, restrooms, fire alarms, energy efficiency upgrades and other projects.

“When buildings haven’t been upgraded for 30 or 40 years, it is not a safe learning environment for our children,” said board President Don Revelo on April 27 when the board discussed the bond measure.

, the board approved a draft project of the bond measure, and on July 25, it will vote on the final resolution.

A few months ago, the board hired to assess the likelihood of Millbrae residents passing the measure, which requires 55 percent approval.

He believes the community will favor the $30 million bond measure, that will amount to a property tax rate of $25 per year per $100,000 in assessed value.

A public meeting to discuss the bond measure will be held Monday, July 25 at 7 p.m. at the Millbrae City Council Chambers, located at 621 Magnolia Ave. The meeting will be broadcast live on Millbrae Community Television.
