Volunteers Clean up Millbrae

Children find disposed ladder inside a tree.

On Sept. 18, over 100 people armed with trash bags spent their  morning scouring the parks and streets of Millbrae picking up garbage of all shapes and sizes for the second annual Taking it to the Streets Cleanup. Local community groups comprised a majority of the volunteers, including many children who found a ladder inside a tree.

The event was sponsored by the city of Millbrae Environmental Programs, comprised of water conservation, recycling and pollution prevention.

Taking it to the Streets Cleanup kicked off Millbrae's Pollution Week, part of an international effort to collect refuse. The California Coastal Cleanup and the International Coastal Cleanup events are scheduled for Sept. 25.
