Poll: Should Gov. Brown Sign a Bill Banning Hunters from Using Lead Bullets?

The bill passed the state legislature this week.

People who shoot animals for sport and food in California are waiting to see if Governor Jerry Brown will sign a bill that bans hunters from using lead ammunition.

Environmental groups such as Audubon California say that lead from bullets and buckshot poison animals and humans. To bolster their argument they point to hundreds of scientific studies documenting the danger lead ammo poses to wildlife.

Opponents of the bill, which passed the State Legislature this week, argue that it will hinder hunters and harm the gun and ammunition industry. The National Rifle Association views AB 711 as an indirect attack on gun rights.
