City Manager Plans to Skip Town

Marcia Raines may leave Millbrae for Alameda.

Millbrae City Manager Marcia Raines is seeking a position as Alameda’s city manager, and is now one of three final candidates for the job, according to The Island, an Alameda news site.

Alameda city council members whittled down their selections from 65 applicants to three: Oakland City Attorney John Russo, former Alameda Assistant City Attorney David Brandt and Raines, according to the Oakland Tribune and The Island.

Current Alameda City Attorney Ann Marie Gallant’s contract expires March 31, and the new manager will start soon thereafter. Gallant currently earns $250,000 in base salary.

Raine’s base salary was $191,886 in 2010, jumping from $184,834 in 2009, the year Raines came to Millbrae as city manager after leaving Half Moon Bay.

In Half Moon Bay, Raines convinced city council members to increase her salary only to announce her resignation three weeks later, according to the Half Moon Bay Review.
