City Increases Parking Fines

A $3 surcharge will go into effect Dec. 7.

City council members unanimously approved a $3 increase to parking fines to offset state imposed fees that would have cost the city $26,400 per year.

SB 867 will force Millbrae to fork over an additional $3 from parking violations to fund the Trial Court Trust Fund, paying for trial court services, supplies, salaries, benefits and retirement packages.

"The last increase was in May of 2009," said Police Chief Neil Telford. "That  increase was because of another surcharge imposed by state legislation."
