What Do You Think Of The Sheriff's Services?

The Sheriff's Office assumed police services this week.

The Millbrae Police Department ended its 63-year history on March 4, when the San Mateo County Sheriff's Office assumed all police services.

Lt. Ed Barberini, of the Sheriff's Office, reiterated last week that residents should not expect any differences in community services.

The City of Millbrae decided to outsource its police services on Dec. 13, 2011 after months of negotiations and community input on the proposed plan. The city was faced with either spending an additional $400,000 to fully-staff the Millbrae Police Department, or disband the force and outsource to the Sheriff's Office, saving an estimated $1.5 million a year. The Sheriff's Office hired all Millbrae police personnel.
