Serial Television Thief Gets 4 Years

A man who stole televisions in Millbrae and Redwood City has been sentenced.

A 31-year-old San Pablo man who stole a television from a Millbrae Walgreens has been sentenced to 4 years in state prison.

The defendant, Chauncey Smith, was seen walking out of the store in Sept. 2010 with a TV without paying for it. An officer stopped the defendant, but Smith then fled the scene.

In November 2010, Smith also stole a $300 HDTV from the Kohl’s store in Redwood City, while pushing a baby stroller with no baby. The following day, the defendant attempted to steal a third television from that Kohl’s, but was apprehended by security and arrested.
