SF Man Arrested for Allegedly Bounding and Gagging Hooker in South City

A local real estate agent was arrested early this morning at a South San Francisco hotel after he allegedly bound and gagged a woman he thought stole money from him during a previous sexual encounter, police said.

Officers responded to the Travelodge at 326 S. Airport Blvd. at about 12:30 a.m. after guests reported to management that a woman was screaming in one of the rooms, South San Francisco police Sgt. Bruce McPhillips said.

Officers arrived at the hotel to find a 20-year-old woman who had been assaulted, with and her arms and legs bound with duct tape and her mouth taped shut, McPhillips said.

The victim was cut free and taken to a hospital to be treated for her injuries.

David Patrick O'Mara, 46, of San Francisco, was detained at the hotel and arrested on suspicion of false imprisonment, making terrorist threats, and battery causing serious bodily injury, police said.

Investigators believe the victim was a prostitute and had met O'Mara for a sexual encounter at his San Francisco home early Tuesday morning, McPhillips said.

Afterward, O'Mara came to believe that the victim stole money and an iPad while at his home, McPhillips said.

Police said O'Mara allegedly used a false name, contacted the woman through an adult website, and arranged to meet her in South San Francisco.

Once at the hotel, O'Mara allegedly attacked the victim and threatened to kill her, police said.

O'Mara remains in custody in San Mateo County Jail on $50,000 bail.
