Police Blotter: Woman Steals Tea

May 3-4.

Tuesday, May 3

10:05 a.m., 400 block of Broadway: Two boxes of tea were stolen from a store. The owner did not want to press charges. The suspect, a 75-year-old woman, returned the tea and was transported back home. The woman’s daughter was advised of the theft and would contact the owner for a civil remedy.

12:49 p.m., 300 block of Vallejo Drive: An unknown suspect illegally accessed a victim’s checking account, including debit and checks. Over four months, the suspect wrote checks totaling a few thousand dollars.

3:22 p.m., 300 block of Vallejo Drive: Police were called into a meeting with a Child Protective Services social worker. The parents agreed to grant temporary custody of the two kids to an uncle. The mother was scheduled to be released from a mental health facility that night. Officers needed to do a civil standby so the mother could get some belongings.

Wednesday, May 4

7:18 a.m., 1300 block of El Camino Real: A victim's 1995 Chevrolet was burglarized sometime between 11:30 p.m. the previous night and 6 a.m. on Wednesday. A suspect stole work equipment valued at $1,000. Entry was gained by smashing the front left window. Hotel staff will work on providing video surveillance for police. No suspect info was available.
