Millbrae Marijuana Growers Arrested

Three Millbrae residents arrested in Bay Area undercover sting.

The San Mateo County Narcotics Task Force arrested 10 people on Tuesday, including three Millbrae residents, for running a marijuana trafficking ring spanning three Bay Area counties.

Millbrae residents Queenie Qi, 38, Bill Dao Bian Qi, 33 and Wilson Cheung, 50, were arrested and charged with marijuana cultivation, possession of marijuana for sale, criminal conspiracy and theft of utilities.

Overall, authorities arrested ten people in San Mateo, San Francisco and Alameda counties, seizing more than 2,200 plants, four firearms, $100,000 in cash, six vehicles and 22 pounds of harvested plants worth about $900,000.

"This was clearly a for-profit operation," said San Mateo County Sheriff Commander Marc Alcantara. 

He said there was no evidence the plants were destined for legal dispensaries.

All suspects remain in custody in San Mateo County jail on $1 million bail, and are scheduled to be arraigned in South San Francisco superior court at 1:30 p.m. on Thursday. 

Eleven Bay Area police agencies cooperated in this undercover sting with assistance from the state Bureau of Narcotics Enforcement, the Federal Drug Enforcement Administration and US Immigration and Customs Enforcement.
