Millbrae Man Faces Prison for Parent Injury

A Millbrae man faces state prison for injuring his parents this past March.

Fifty-nine-year-old Thomas Louis Trapani pleaded no contest to two counts of causing an elder pain. He faces two years in prison and consideration for entry into the Pathways Mental Health Program.

Trapani was living with his 83-year-old mother and 87-year-old father when the incident occurred. His mother reported returning home and finding Trapani acting angry. He reportedly grabbed her as she placed a pie in the oven and began pounding her head into the wall before throwing her to the ground.

He then punched his father—who entered the kitchen upon hearing his wife’s screams—and chased him with a kitchen knife. He continued beating his father once the knife was knocked from his hand.

According to the District Attorney’s office, Trapani’s mother suffered bruises, lacerations and black eyes and spent the night at the hospital. The father suffered bruising and cuts and weeks of back spasms.

Judge Mark Forcum will impose the sentence on September 5 at 9 a.m.

According to the District Attorney’s office, the defendant remains in custody on $100,000 bail.
