Millbrae Burglary/Hit and Run Trial Begins

The defendant is accused of hitting a churchgoer with his car and fleeing the scene.

Michael John Weiler's journey with justice began Friday morning in a San Mateo County courtroom.

Weiler, 27, is on trial after being arrested on for a multitude of crimes.

According to San Mateo County District Attorney's Office notes, Weiler is accused of driving a stolen car on Dec. 19, 2012, and hitting a man getting out of his car to attend an All Souls Church Christmas Pageant.

Weiler did not stop after hitting the man, but security cameras caught the incident and police were able to track him back to his girlfriend's house in South San Francisco.

According to the DA, Weiler was later found with methamphetamine and a search of his home turned up ammunition and stolen property from a burglary in Millbrae four days earlier.

Weiler was arraigned on March 19 and has been in custody ever since on $150,000 bail.
