A 36-year-old San Francisco man was arrested after allegedly attempting to rob a Valero gas station in San Bruno on Saturday, police said Monday.

Njawa Pendar was arrested following the attempted robbery that occurred around 5:50 a.m. Saturday at the gas station at 310 E. San Bruno Ave., police said.

Pendar simulated having a weapon in his waistband and demanded money from the gas station clerk, according to police.

He fled the scene after being told that police had been notified. At 7:30 a.m., the day shift clerk saw Pendar returning and contacted police, resulting in his arrest.
