Cyclist Killed Before Giants Fan Fest

The woman -- on a bicycle -- was struck by a cement truck Saturday morning.

A woman suffered fatal injuries Saturday in a crash between a bicyclist and a cement truck in San Francisco, as fans waited for a Giants Baseball preseason celebration.

The crash happened in front of AT&T Park 24 Willie Mays Plaza, about 9:35 a.m., authorities said.

Both the bicyclist and the cement truck were heading west on King Street -- near Third Street -- when for some reason they collided, Sgt. Michael Andraychak said.

The driver stopped immediately after the crash and cooperated with the police investigation, he said.

The woman was taken to a hospital with life-threatening injuries and was pronounced dead later Saturday morning.

Investigators were trying to determine how the crash happened. Alcohol and drugs do not appear to have been a factor, police said.

The fatal crash occurred as thousands of people waited to enter the San Francisco Giants Fan Fest.

The Giants won the World Series last fall.
