Car Crashes Down Embankment Near Crystal Springs Reservoir

One of the passengers climbed up to the roadway to wait for help while the other three men stayed in the car.

Four San Jose men were injured when their car careened down an embankment near the Crystal Springs Reservoir in San Mateo County early Thanksgiving morning, according to the California Highway Patrol.

The four men, all between the ages of 20 and 23, were traveling in a 1992 Honda east on state Highway 92 east of state Highway 35 shortly after 12:30 a.m. when the driver lost control of the car and went down the right embankment, the CHP said.

Initial reports suggest that the driver drifted into the right shoulder, over-corrected and drove into oncoming traffic. The driver then veered back to the right and down the embankment, the CHP said.

One of the passengers climbed up to the roadway to wait for help while the other three men stayed in the car.

The four men were all taken to San Francisco General Hospital but their injuries were minor -- some abrasions and complaints of pain. All four men were wearing their seatbelts, the CHP said.
