Blotter: Jamaican-Sounding Phone Scammers

Read last Tuesday's and Wednesday's Police log.

Tuesday, June 7

10:12 a.m., 1100 block of Elmwood Drive: Neighbors had allowed a subject to use their phone to make some calls in the past and scammers obtained their number. The neighbors had two recordings with two Jamaican-sounding subjects asking for money.

1:33 p.m., 500 block of El Camino Real: A woman left behind her Visa card at the Kragen Auto on May 28. She contacted store employees, who said they could not find her card anywhere. Though she canceled the account, a Visa representative informed her that her card was used that same day at 5 p.m. at a Chevron station in the city of Millbrae.

1:42 p.m., 300 block of Loyola Drive: A woman came home to have lunch with her elderly father and left purse on front seat of her car with the windows open. The woman believes that phone book delivery subjects took purse, though she did not see the theft. The woman later told police that she found her purse under her bed.

2:29 p.m., 1100 block of El Camino Real: A company's loss prevention team viewed surveillance video for May 28 and 29, as the company is conducting an investigation into a suspected "dirty" employee.

5:42 p.m., 500 block of El Camino Real: A subject walked out of a store with a full shopping cart of food. The subject was stopped by the store manager. The subject immediately returned to the store to pay. The subject was admonished and paid for all the items.

8:07 p.m., 200 block of La Cruz: Parents gave police permission to search their son’s room for a firearm. No firearm was found.

 

Wednesday, June 8

7:59 p.m., 300 block of Vallejo Drive: Police responded to a family disturbance.
