BART Increasing Security This Weekend

Extra police officers will be on hand all weekend as the ten-year anniversary of 9/11 occurs on Sunday.

With the 10th anniversary of the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks occurring Sunday, BART officials are working with local law enforcement throughout the weekend to increase transit safety at local stations.

Federal officials have stated that a "credible, but unconfirmed" report of possible terrorist activity exists in the country.

Although there is no specific threat for the Bay Area, BART riders will see a surge in local law enforcement patrolling stations and parking lots along with regular BART patrols on platforms through Monday, according to the agency.
