The City of Millbrae Does Not Keep Many Citizens Safe!

The influx of traffic on Millbrae Ave. is astonishing! There is a constant stream of fast moving cars, morning and night. Many of them are limos heading to SFO. As there are no sidewalks, children, adults, bicyclists, etc, are constantly moving up and down the street. One day, a man was walking his dog, and was struck by a car. I haven't seen him since. Once, a car landed in the front yard of a home at the bottom of the curve. That home has a family living there. Should they risk their lives because the City of Millbrae refuses to spend a few dollars to slow down the reckless speeders? Night after night, I hear the squealing tires, and brace myself for the sound of a crash. I have written email after email about the dangerous traffic, but it mostly falls on deaf ears. We have had lackluster response by the Sheriff's office. We placed a couple of signs up imploring people to slow down, and it said "Have some damn respect". Next morning, 3 Sheriff's cars came to my house saying they had complaints about the word "damn." I covered the offending word, and the officer said thank you, and praised me for caring about safety, and said the signs could remain up. Then, later, an unfriendly, officious officer named Weaver, came to harass me about the signs and claimed the City Manager, Marcia Raines told him to tell me to take down the signs. I said no, and he walked away, saying I would never get the city to help me, if I left the signs up. How does that make sense? He said they would turn a "deaf EYE" to me! Ha! Then I tried to confirm with the City Manager's office about the sign removal request, but they were uncooperative and hung up on me, never again to answer their phone for the rest of the day! I have had no positive response from ANY of the City depts. about the dangerous traffic conditions! The cost of a stop sign, or speed bumps, or a radar read-out sign, is minimal, especially compared to the loss of life that can occur again! It is obvious Millbrae doesn't want to spend a few thousand dollars to save lives, or they wouldn't hesitate when told that a danger exists! They will spend big bucks to make a new shopping area by Bart, but stopping arrogant, potentially deadly, traffic violators, just doesn't make the greed grade! IT IS SHAMEFUL! So, now, the neighborhood will have to take license numbers, speeds, and pictures THEMSELVES, because if we don't, no one else will! I am also sick of the  attitudes of some of the disgusting neighbors who love to treat the area like a raceway! What will they say if they kill a child? Nothing can bring that child back! PEOPLE come FIRST, but Millbrae seems to feel otherwise!
