The City of Millbrae, CA: Make Millbrae Avenue Safer for Residents!

SAFETY IS A CONCERN TO US ALL! PLEASE HELP THIS CAUSE, NO MATTER WHERE YOU LIVE! SHOW THE "POWERS THAT BE", THAT THE WELFARE OF PEOPLE DOESN'T TAKE A BACK SEAT TO MONEY!

Millbrae Avenue is a residental street that has no sidewalks in the higher- elevation neighborhoods. The street twists and turns, and has cars parked along the road at all times. There is a park, and a school crossing on the route. Cars careen around corners at unsafe speeds, and race down the street, heading for the freeway, and airport. They pay little attention to the school signs, nor the crosswalks. Several accidents have happened in front of my house alone; including a man walking his dog getting hit by a car, head-on collisions, a woman pinned against a tree, and a car landing in the front yard of a neighbor's home, (because the car took the curve too fast). The City of Millbrae has done minor things, at my insistance, in a slight attempt to fix the situation (or make a token effort), and the Sheriff's Dept. placed a radar speed indicator for a week, but with no follow-up. The situation remains dangerous for pedestrians, bicyclists, children coming home from school, parked cars, and pets; even the safety of our very homes is threatened! We need speed bumps/humps, radar signs, more stop signs, and a more intense presence by law enforcement. We residents of Millbrae pay premium taxes, and the very least we should expect in return is the safety of the residents. The people speeding through don't care about us, they care about getting to their destinations by using our street as a short cut to elsewhere! This is not only a local issue; it concerns anyone who cares about keeping attention focused on the importance of safety. There is a terrible trend lately of running all over people in favor of placating business and money! That needs to STOP!!!
