Petitioning City of Millbrae, City Manager Marcia Raines STOP MAKING OUR RESIDENTIAL STREET INTO A HIGHWAY!

Our neighborhood used to be quiet and safe. But with the hiring of City Manager Marcia Raines, our street, Millbrae Avenue, has become a nightmare of large numbers of fast travelling cars, large trucks, limos and tour buses. Despite numerous accidents, including head-on collisions, a pedestrian hit while walking his dog; no attempt at safety measures has been taken. In fact, Ms Raines even sent out a sheriff's deputy to the home of a resident who has up a sign asking people to slow down, demanding it be taken down. When told no, the deputy said, "it's your funeral!" What does this city manager have to gain by allowing this large influx of traffic to go roaring down a usually quiet residential street? Does it have a monetary implication? Why go so far as to have a deputy act as her henchman, to take down an innocent sign only meant to protect people? She and the rest of the City staff, follow her lead and do nothing to help the residents! It can't help but to lower property values to take a quiet residential street, and turn it into a highway! It isn't fair to property owners, and it isn't fair to the people who try and enjoy the area walking and riding bikes. Cars trying to avoid head on collisions often drive far off the road to avoid a direct hit, thereby endangering pedestrians (children and the elderly), cyclists and homeowners. We are unable to enjoy a peaceful existence in our own homes. Where calm and quiet once existed, only stress and fear remains. We need to tell our city leaders that we will not stand for them ruining our peace and tranquility, for their monetary gain, or any other reason! We deserve to have the same safe and quiet neighborhood that we  had when we moved here! Please help my effort, anyone can sign. It IS a matter of life and death! Thank you!
