City Council Meeting November 12, 2013

I didn't have an opportunity to attend the last city council meeting, but I watched the video on mctv.tv last evening.

The public communication section this time was interesting and I recommend anyone to watch it. There is absolute discontent among the business owners about the situation in Millbrae and these are the same people I speak for in my election. Small business owners are the lifeblood of Millbrae and the keys to our success as a town.

The dissolution of the business advisory committee was a hot topic issue in the public communication section.

Councilmember Wayne Lee had wanted to push the official dissolution of the business committee since several council meetings earlier. I have had issue with this myself as the role of the Millbrae Chamber of Commerce is not advisory to the city, but a private means of organizing business owners in common interest. Representation from the business community in the official capacity SHOULD still exist. Reasons for the dissolution is that Wayne Lee feels the "same" issues keep coming up - sanitation, garbage, parking, inconsistency in code enforcement (especially with posters in the window and signage).

Well unfortunately, the reason why the same issues keep coming up guys is because the same problems haven't been fixed. The role of council on the committee is that of advisory and not executive action to disband the group.

What the business community needs is a candidate from their own collective to run in 2015. I will gladly support a Millbrae business owner in the upcoming election.

Please go to mctv.tv and watch the dialogue in the public communication section.
