ASK CITY MANAGER MARCIA RAINES WHY SHE SAID "NO TO MAKING MILLBRAE STREETS SAFER!

City Manager Marcia Raines was asked by County Supervisor Dave Pine's office, if she could make even some small changes to the traffic situation on Millbrae Avenue where there have been numerous serious accidents. She flatly said "NO!" A few weeks ago, there was a near head-on collision between a safe driver, and a young man who often drove up the hill on Millbrae Avenue in speeds obviously in excess of 50 MPH. The street narrows, and if cars are parked on the side, it is often necessary to drive into head-on traffic. If someone is driving as fast as that young man, you have little time to react for a pedestrian, or oncoming car! The ONLY reason there was NOT a full head-on, is because the safe driver ran off the road and up the side of a hill! This is NOT acceptable! There was a head-on at at SAME spot a year, or so ago too! And a man walking up the hill with his dog was hit by a speeding car! I see and hear cars having near collisions in that area ALL OF THE TIME! What did our "caring" city manager do? She had people come out and trim the trees so that our new influx of tour buses and trucks can add to the highway, and sometimes freeway type traffic we are now seeing! There is something going on at the expense of our safety, and integrity of our neighborhood(s)! What is usually the rea$on $omeone will do anything, even at the risk of $afety of others and the quality of a neighborhood? I can think of money rea$son$ that might happen! Tell our city manager, (who frequently travels from job-to-job, if she can find one that doesn't mind a job jumper) that we don't want trucks, tour buses, limos, taxis, and others racing down our neighborhood streets endangering our children, pets, elderly and others, just to line a wallet! She may send out her Deputies out to intimidate those who are dedicated to the safety of others, but this is not Little Sicily, it is not the way things are supposed to be done in America! I WILL ALWAYS BE ON THE SIDE OF PROTECTING PEOPLE, BECAUSE THERE IS NO PRICE ON SAFETY! PEOPLE ARE MORE IMPORTANT THAN MONEY!
