Last Saturday, Millbrae residents took to the streets on a warm and sunny morning to give back to the community. More than 100 community members gathered at Rotary Park for Coastal Cleanup Day.
Millbrae gave Coastal Cleanup Day its own twist, choosing to spend the morning cleaning up litter from City streets, trails and parks, preventing the garbage from ever making its way into storm drains, creeks and canals—and eventually the Bay.
Volunteers collected 620 pounds of garbage, including 227 pounds of recyclable materials. They also collected cigarette butts, a main item found in the Bay at Coastal Cleanup.
