The "Strut" will be held Saturday at Coyote Point Park.

A parade of pooches will be gallivanting through Coyote Point Park in San Mateo on Saturday morning, but it is not the usual dog and pony show.

The 17th annual "" is designed to raise money for animals at the Peninsula Humane Society and SPCA, organization representatives said.

Dog owners are encouraged to register for the one-kilometer or three-kilometer stroll through Coyote Point Park starting at 11 a.m.

Before the walk beginning at 9 a.m., mutts can compete in contests to earn "Most Talented" or "Best Costume" titles. There will also be food, music and demonstrations. Coyote Point Park is only open to dogs for the event, and the spectacular views and winding trails will give dogs a reason to wag their tails, according to the organizations.

The event has drawn between 300 to 400 people in previous years and raised more than $60,000 annually, organizers said. Registration for the "Mutt Strutt" is $28 and participants are encouraged to collect additional pledges.
