Millbrae To Participate in Global Energy-Saving Program

Earth Hour will be Saturday from 8:30-9:30 p.m.

Millbrae will join thousands of other cities for Earth Hour, a voluntary worldwide program that asks people to turn off lights for an hour at 8:30 p.m. local time on Saturday night.

Earth Hour started in Sidney, Australia in 2007, when about 2 million Sydney businesses and residents turned off their lights for an hour. Since then, the program has grown and 128 countries participated last year.

All non-essential lighting in Millbrae city facilities will be turned off on Saturday night from 8:30 to 9:30 p.m., and the city is asking residents to participate.
