Uncle Jer’s Traveling Bee Show stops at today for an educational and entertaining event sweetened by honey samples.
Jerry Johnson, who goes by Uncle Jer, will have his live bees in the library and will provide an informational presentation designed for ages 5 to 95.
When , he captivated a large group of children and parents with facts, questions, a puppet show and even a comical bee dance. Johnson awarded kids who answered questions with honey sticks.
See Uncle Jer starting at 7pm at the Millbrae Library, 1 Library Ave.
Uncle Jer’s visit comes as honeybees, which play a critical role in pollinating plants and crops, are dying off in large numbers and for unknown reasons.
Though California’s honeybee population appeared to gain ground this year, local gardeners and “citizen scientists” are being asked to participate in a bee count this Saturday to help track the state of bees. For more information visit: www.greatsunflower.org.
