Millbrae Homeowners Eligible for Thousands in Energy Rebates

A workshop will be held on June 7 at the Millbrae LIbrary.

Millbrae Homeowners can participate in a new statewide program and collect up to $4,000 in rebates towards energy-efficient projects for their home. 

San Mateo County and the City of Millbrae will host a workshop at the at 7 p.m. on June 7 to show residents how to participate in Energy Upgrade California, a statewide incentive that focuses on comprehensive upgrades, rather than gradual improvements.

"For many Millbrae residents, our homes are a big investment,” said Millbrae Mayor Dan Quigg in a statement. “The Energy Upgrade California program is a great opportunity for homeowners to save money and qualify for rebates on one-time home improvements to make their homes more energy-efficient and a healthier, more comfortable place to live."

The workshop will focus on different energy-reducing programs, a basic 10 to 15 percent reduction achieved through better insulation, and an inclusive program that can reduce energy consumption by as much as 40 percent through solar power.

A basic upgrade qualifies for a PG&E rebate of $1,000, while an inclusive upgrade will refund customers $4,000.

“This innovative partnership with local cities allows us to directly engage homeowners on a neighborhood level to educate them about the program,”said Peggy Jensen, deputy county manger of San Mateo County, in a statement.

To qualify for the rebate program, homeowners must hire an Energy Upgrade trained contractor.
