Millbrae BART Commuters React to SF Protests

BART service was disrupted at about 5:30 p.m. today.

Thousands of commuters are being affected as protesters have caused BART police to shut down several stations in downtown San Francisco.

"I've never seen BART that vacant during rush hour," said Zach Perkins as he was leaving the Millbrae BART platform.

He said he was one of the last people to enter the Embarcadero station before it closed.

Andria Garcia, another passenger exiting Millbrae BART, witnessed a confrontation between police and protesters at the Powell Street station.

"Right when my train got there, the protesters blocked the doors and the cops had to get involved," she said.
