United Begins Flying Non-Stop SFO to DCA Flights

The direct flight to Washington's "other airport" will cut three hours from a normal travel itinerary.

United Airlines is set to launch daily non-stop service today between San Francisco International Airport and Reagan Washington-National Airport.

The inaugural flight is scheduled to depart SFO at 1 p.m. and arrive in Washington, D.C. at 9:17 p.m. The return flight will leave the nation's capitol at 8 a.m. and arrive at SFO at 11:05 a.m.

A quick check on Travelocity of costs and comparison flights for a trip from San Francisco to Washington, DC one month from today - on June 13 - shows the United non-stop flight is priced at $551.40. Of all carriers serving SFO, it appears to be the only non-stop flight to Washington National. The majority of SFO flights going to Washington DC fly to Dulles.

You can get a cheaper price for the SFO to DCA flight: $491.70 on AirTran, connecting in Atlanta, with a total travel time of 8 hours, 13 minutes. The travel time on the United non-stop is approximately 5 hours, 17 minutes.

"We are extremely excited United has selected SFO for its new non-stop service to Washington-National," said SFO Airport Director John Martin. "This new flight will provide our passengers with direct and easy access to our nation's capitol."
