Rep. Speier Hosts Job Boot Camp Today
Event is free to all and is held at the College of San Mateo
Job seekers in San Mateo will get a little help today at a Job Hunters Boot Camp. This is the sixth boot camp hosted by Jackie Speier, D-San Mateo, since 2010, organizers said.
Representatives from about 20 local companies will attend the event at the College of San Mateo this morning and panels will provide seekers with information on what companies are looking for.
Workshops will also be presented to focus on specific issues and information to help job seekers. Workshops include "Strategies for the Mature Job Seeker" and "Entrepreneurship: Is it Time to Start Your Own Business?"

The event is free and open to all job hunters, with particular focus on veterans, recent college graduates, and mature workers, organizers said.
"Looking for work is a full-time job and can be extremely frustrating if you aren't rewarded with landing a job," Speier said in a statement. "In this highly competitive job market, we give people the tools they need to present themselves professionally and receive attention from companies that are hiring."
