Heartfelt Wines Now Sold in Millbrae Shops, Restaurants

In a debut event, this local winemaking family is making its mark.

Wednesday evening the Chetcuti Room on Poplar Ave. was all abuzz with locals tasting wines from the new Millbrae company, Heartfelt Wines.

Winemaker Daniel Morgan said that Wednesday's event was a debut of sorts. After making his first wine nearly 13 years ago at his home, he and his wife, Karen Morgan, are now expanding Heartfelt's reach.

Morgan wines are already known in vintners' circles in the Bay Area because they have been producing at a winery on Treasure Island since 2010. The Millbrae event was a debut to locals, and to let people know the wines are now sold in two local restaurants and two shops.

"Everyone knows we've been making it for a while," Karen said at the event, as she helped sell bottles and keep a raffle moving smoothly.

Various Heartfelt wines are now available at O' Sole Mio Restaurant, Sixteen Mile House, and Vineyard Gate all on Broadway, as well as Weimax Wines and Spirits in Burlingame.

On the tasting menu at the Chetcuti Room were a 2011 Chardonnay, and a Zinfindel, Petite Sirah, Muse (Syrah), and Inspiration Red all from 2010, all sourced from grapes grown in Sonoma and Napa Valley.

The event's attendants were a cross-section of locals who are wine afficianados and others who just wanted to see what Heartfelt is all about.

"The bottom line is that people have their own tastes," Daniel said between pouring glasses for guests to taste. "if they enjoy it, that's all that's important."

Before the event, Karen sent out invitations by mail and said she expected over 100 guests to pass through between 6:30 and 9 p.m. that evening. By the end of the night, Heartfelt had poured 1.5 cases of complimentary wine and sold about 9 more.

Three raffles throughout the night sent several guests home with their own Heartfelt bottles. Fleece jackets with the Heartfelt Wines logo were also on sale for $25, and Sixteen Mile House and O' Sole Mio provided dinner to accompany the wine tasting.

Heartfelt Wines will also be selling at the Vintner's Market at Fort Mason in San Francisco on Nov. 17 and 18.

Bottle prices: Inspiration Red, $48; Muse $36, Zinfandel, $24; Petite Sirah, $22; Chardonnay $24. All wines are available on the website here.
