Just a Few Booths Left for Green Street Fair

The Burlingame Green Street Fair has just a few booth spaces left for the annual event next month that draws exhibitors and visitors from throughout the Peninsula.

The event takes place on Sunday, Sept 16, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. in downtown Burlingame.

“We expect to sell out much sooner than last year,” said Kathy Meriwether of the Citizens Environmental Council – Burlingame, which is presenting the fair. “There are a record number of 18 sponsors, and exhibit space is filling up fast. We have kept the price low to encourage small green businesses to participate."

Remaining booths cost just $100 for a 10-by-10-foot space and are available on a first-come, first-served basis, Meriwether added. 

This will be the fifth annual Burlingame Green Street Fair.

Last year it featured 60 exhibitors and attracted more than 1,000 visitors.

It is held in the parking lot behind Pet Food Express adjacent to the popular Burlingame Fresh Market on Park Road at Burlingame Avenue. 

In addition to showcasing green businesses and lifestyle choices, the Burlingame Green Fair offers entertainment, demonstrations, complimentary samples and free art projects for families. 

Admission is free. A large recycling event next to the fair is expected to draw additional traffic.

Among the sponsors for this year’s Burlingame Green Street Fair are Astound, Enterprise Rent-a-Car, Pacific Gas & Electric, Pet Food Express, Recology, Safeway, Virgin America and Whole Foods.

The fair is operated by volunteers from the Citizens Environmental Council – Burlingame (CEC), a local nonprofit that is a fiduciary program of Acterra: Action for a Healthy Planet.  Additional information about CEC is available at www.burlingamecec.org. Almost all funds raised are devoted to local efforts to educate and lead the community in sustainability matters.
