Catch Caltrain from Millbrae to Chinese New Year Festival

The Lunar New Year Festival is a San Francisco tradition that dates back to just after the Gold Rush.

Contributed by Caltrain:

Avoid freeway traffic, crowded city streets and expensive parking by taking Caltrain to the Southwest Airlines Chinese New Year Festival & Parade in San Francisco Saturday, Feb. 23 beginning at 5:15 p.m. at Second and Market streets.

The Millbrae Caltrain station is located at 100 California Dr.

A San Francisco tradition since just after the Gold Rush, the Lunar New Year parade continues to delight the hundreds of thousands of people who come to watch it. The parade features gorgeous floats, elaborate costumes, ferocious lions, exploding firecrackers and the newly crowned Miss Chinatown.

After you arrive from Millbrae at the San Francisco Caltrain Station, take either Muni lines 30 or 45, which stop across from the train station on Townsend Street or take the Muni N-Judah or T-Third light rail lines on 4th and King streets to the Powell Station. The parade route starts on Market, goes up Geary, down Post and ends on Kearny at Columbus.

Caltrain offers hourly service on the weekends, with two Baby Bullet express trains in each direction. The last Saturday train leaves San Francisco at 12:01 a.m. and makes all weekend local stops to San Jose.
