Best Turnout In Millbrae Art & Wine Festival History

80,000 soak up sun and fun.

The Millbrae Art & Wine Festival celebrated its biggest draw ever, attracting about 80,000 visitors during the Labor Day weekend.  The free annual event has consistently maximized the crowd capacity for the past 15 years but this year's numbers surprised and delighted event organizers and exhibitors. According to John Ford of the Millbrae Chamber of Commerce, besides the pleasant weather, several factors contributed to the increased booth and visitor attendance this year:

  • In addition to regular advertising, there was a new and bigger marketing outreach campaign utilizing social media like Facebook   and coordination with Chinese language print publications.
  • The shutting down of San Jose's Tapestry and Talent Labor Day Festival this year attracted new artists and exhibitors.
  • School starting earlier coupled with the festival being scheduled before instead of after Labor Day made it ideal as the last family outing before the end of summer.
  • Fewer people are traveling for the holidays.
  • Admission was free.
