Tuesday, May 29

The Millbrae Safeway store will by more than 50 percent when it opens the doors to its renovated store about a year from now, a spokeswoman for the grocery chain told Patch.

The Millbrae store, which is slated to , currently employs 100. The new store will employ over 150, spokeswoman Wendy Gutshall said.

 

Wednesday, May 30

San Jose SaberCats fullback Johnie Kirton was in a Santa Clara hotel room on Monday, the San Jose Mercury News reports.

Kirton was the father of a 2-year-old daughter who lived in Arizona. His cause of death was not immediately known, but authorities don’t suspect foul play, according to the Mercury report.

 

Thursday, May 31

Lawyers representing a Mills-Peninsula Medical Center employee who prosecutors say  were earlier this week that figures to delay the trial again.

Katherine Asimos, 50 of Millbrae, is charged with misdemeanor theft in separate cases. Prosecutors say she stole over 1,000 patient documents and also wrote checks against her elderly father’s account without his permission.

 

Friday, June 1

Lomita Park Elementary School students participating in the San Mateo County Sheriff’s Department’s "” program learn sportsmanship and soccer skills while developing a trusting relationship with cops. The program serves five elementary schools in three Peninsula cities.
