Millbrae BART Running Extra Trains on New Year's Eve and Day

The extra trains, running until 3 a.m., are to ease congestion from the annual fireworks show in downtown SF.

Looking for a designated driver on New Year’s Eve?

Like Caltrain, BART is extending its service -- all the way until 3 a.m. on New Year’s morning.

In addition to normal weekday service of trains running every 20 minutes, BART will run additional trains in and out of San Francisco on New Year’s eve and morning.

The extra service was put in place to ease crowding at the Embarcadero and Montgomery Street stations, the result of the large number of people who pile in every year to see the fireworks show in downtown San Francisco.

The show begins at 9:30 p.m. on Fisherman's Wharf, after which there will be extra BART trains departing from the Embarcadero and Montgomery Street stations.

Trains departing from Millbrae will make all stops in San Francisco.
