Immediate Volunteer Needs at Samaritan House
As the holidays approach, the need for help for help with food distribution increases dramatically.
Have an hour or two to spare this week? The Samaritan House can use your help sorting, setting-up, and distributing food to local folks in need of a little community support.
Samaritan House is a private nonprofit organization that provides services to help meet the essential daily needs of more than 12,000 low-income people within San Mateo County.
Holidays at Samaritan House are a busy time offering many opportunities for individuals, families, and groups to get involved.

According to holiday volunteer coordinators, from now until Christmas, more than 1,500 volunteers will help out collecting, packing, sorting, and distributing toys and food to clients.
There is an urgent need for volunteers in the following positions:

- Friday 11/9 – 11:30-2pm, Food distribution
- Wednesday 11/14 – 10-2pm, Sort and set-up food distribution
- Thursday 11/15 – 5-7pm, Food distribution
- Saturday 11/17 – 8-10am, Food distribution

Holiday Food Donations
Each holiday season the Samaritan House distributes tens of thousands of pounds of non-perishable food to its clients in addition to the meals they serve in their kitchens. During this time, they are in special need of food donations - including turkeys, chicken, and ham - from our community.
Individuals can drop-off donations at Samaritan House administrative offices located at 4031 Pacific Blvd. in San Mateo.
