Dream Machines, Everyday Italian's Giada, Free Electronics Recycling Highlight Weekend Calendar

Saturday and Sunday @ 10 a.m. in Half Moon Bay

Half Moon Bay's celebration of "mechanical ingenuity, power and style. It's a whimsical, fascinating, amusing, curious and absolutely unique show-and-tell spectacle" featuring 2,000 driving, flying and working machines from the 20th and 21st centuries" according to the website.

Cars of every era and style, model-T fire engines, vintage busses, custom motorcycles, tricked out trucks, sleek streamliners, one-of-a-kind antique engines and tractors and historic military aircraft will be among the displays.

TV Food Network Star Giada De Laurentiis

Saturday @ 11:30 a.m. in San Jose

Meet best-selling author and star of Food Network’s Everyday Italian, Giada De Laurentiis at Santana Row.

Giada will host a Q&A at 11:30 a.m. and everyone is invited to attend.  Following the Q&A, Giada will be signing her new book “Weeknights with Giada” inside Santana Row’s Sur La Table at noon.

All Green Electronics Recycling Event

Saturday @ 10 a.m. in East Palo Alto

Do you have old electronics cluttering up your attic or garage? The East Palo Alto Library and All Green Electronics Recycling have teamed up to host an event to help you get rid of them responsibly–absolutely free of charge!

Members of the community and businesses are encouraged to clean out their garage or attic and donate their old electronics to a good cause. Bring all of your old electronics to the event, including, but not limited to: computers, monitors, televisions, printers, mobile phones, laptops, DVD players, VCRs, microwaves, calculators, iPods, cables and wires, telephones, fax machines, scanners, computer parts, and more.

San Francisco Slow Beer Festival

Saturday @ 1 p.m. in San Francisco

Slow Food San Francisco and the San Francisco Brewers Guild present Slow Beer, a celebration of local artisan beer and food. Over 25 handcrafted beers by the San Francisco Brewer's Guild members will be showcased as part of Slow Food's effort to promote the pleasures of eating and drinking from the well of our own backyard.

Explore different tastes from pairing local brewers with the locally made foods. Proceeds from the event will benefit Slow Food San Francisco programs which include sending a Bay Area farmer to Terra Madre 2012 in Turin, Italy.

Bee Seen Keeping it Clean

Saturday @ 9 a.m. in Redwood City

Participate in a neighborhood clean-up and work to reduce solid waste where you live, so it never reaches our creeks, the bay, or the ocean.

Breakfast treats are being provided by the San Mateo Credit Union and lunch will be provided by El Grullense for all volunteers.

Volunteers under 18 years of age must have their parents sign a waiver form. Forms will be available for students who need to complete community service hours.
