Library Introduces Haiku to Teens

Three lines and syllables, teens get real with Haiku.

About a dozen teens enjoyed complimentary ice cream before they opened their senses to syllables, nature and emotion at a workshop that explored Haiku, the ancient Japanese form of poetry writing. The free one hour class on Wednesday, Sept. 15 premiered at the Millbrae Library, among a few other San Mateo County libraries, in celebration of International Literacy Day.
