Easter Events Around Millbrae

Easter Sunday is coming up this week, and we have a list of fun, family-friendly Easter activities going on in the area.

Looking for fun ways to celebrate Easter with the family this weekend? Well, Patch is here to help.

Here is a list of events going on in Millbrae and nearby.

Millbrae’s Spring Festival 2012 will be presented by the Interact Club of Mills High School at the Millbrae Central Park Millbrae Recreation Center, 477 Lincoln Circle, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. this Saturday, April 7. All children up to the age of 9 are welcome. The event will kick off at 11 a.m. with a free Kids’ Carnival with arts and crafts, prizes, t-shirt decorating and more. A BBQ featuring burgers, hot dogs and other refreshments will be served. Other activities will include a petting zoo, relay races, and a visit from the Easter Bunny! A free Egg Hunt will take place at 1 p.m. Event sponsors include Numis International, Inc., Chapel of the Highlands, Lifetime Lending Incorporated, the Interact Club of Mills High School and the Rotary Club of Millbrae.

Calvary Lutheran Church in Millbrae will host a series of events for "Holy Week," all week long. The congregation will partner with Peace Lutheran Church in San Bruno for "Maundy Thursday" on April 5 at 5 p.m., including a short service, dinner and communion. "Good Friday" will be observed on April 6 at noon and 7 p.m., and finally, the church will host a "Celebration of Easter" this Sunday, April 8 at 10:30 a.m. Click the link above for more information.

Hillsdale Mall in nearby San Mateo hosts the Easter Bunny every day this week through Saturday. Dress your children up in their cutest outfits for a chance to sit on the Easter Bunny's lap and pose for a picture amongst a garden of colorful flowers. The bunny arrives at 10 a.m. each day through Friday, and at 11 a.m. on Saturday. The bunny will not appear on Sunday. Click the link above for more information.

Gamble Gardens in Palo Alto will host a Children's Easter Party this Saturday, April 7. The party will start with fun arts and crafts, followed by a puppet show called “Grandpa Bunny." The event will conclude with Gamble Gardens' famous Easter Egg Hunt, amongst the picturesque trees, grass and flowers. There are three party times to choose from, at 9:30 a.m., 11 a.m. and 12:30 p.m. The price for members is $20 per child and $10 per adult. Nonmembers pay $25 per child and $15 per adult. Hiller Aviation Museum in San Carlos likes to treat the Easter Bunny like a true VIP. The bunny will arrive by helicopter this Saturday, April 7 at 10:30 a.m. In addition to that unforgettable sight, kids will be treated to face painting by the "Magic Princesses" troupe, and can have the time of their lives on the bunny jump and slide. To top it all off, the European Model Train Display will be on hand this weekend as well, and available for viewing. This event is free with regular museum admission. The San Francisco Zoo will turn into an Easter wonderland this Saturday, April 7 for its annual "Big Bunny Spring Fling." From 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., give your family an opportunity to work on and take home fun crafts, watch puppet shows and enjoy stories and songs with the Bunny Princess. Also, with the help of the San Francisco Department of Animal Care and Control, everyone will get the chance to learn all about fuzzy bunnies in the Bunny Learning Center.
